Montenegro submitted extradition request for Ristic and Bogicevic

The Serbian Justice Ministry received on Thursday Montenegro’s extradition request for two Serbian citizens, Predrag Bogicevic and Nemanja Ristic. They are suspected of plotting terrorist acts on 16 October, the election day in Montenegro.

“Montenegro’s request has come and it will be forwarded to the competent courts to decide whether conditions for extradition have been fulfilled,” the Serbian ministry told Tanjug news agency.

Serbia and Montenegro have signed a bilateral extradition agreement, which contains the conditions of extradition.

Bogicevic and Ristic were arrested on 13 January in Kragujevac and Belgrade respectively upon international warrant issued by Montenegro.

Kragujevac high court placed Bogicevic in extradition detention, whereas the special court in Belgrade released Nemanja Ristic. However, the judge placed Ristic under house arrest, meaning that he is banned from leaving Belgrade and ordered to check in with the court on Mondays.

They may wait a final decision on Montenegro’s request in custody or they can be released with some measure ensuring they will not escape.
