Montenegro has been asked not to send senior officials to Trump’s inauguration?

Since the US media, including the Associated Press, reported that the State Department asked other countries to refrain from sending their delegations to the ceremony of president-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration in Washington on 20 January, CdM checked whether the US Embassy in Podgorica received such a note.

The news portal did not get a direct answer, but the US Embassy explained that high-ranking foreign officials/delegations were not invited to the US president inauguration ceremony.

“Ambassadors in Washington will be invited to attend the ceremony. It has always been the case that high level delegations are not invited to the inauguration ceremony,” reads the embassy’s response.

Nebojsa Kaludjerovic is Montenegrin ambassador in Washington and he is expected to represent the country at the inauguration on 20 January.
