New chief of general staff made his first request

On the first day after being appointed the Chief of General Staff of Montenegrin Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Ljubisa Jokic demanded the closest associates to recognise the best and most capable members who will be supported.

He said that at a ceremony in the Danilovgrad Milorad Saranovic centre where he assumed the office from former chief of general staff, Admiral Dragan Samardzic.

“All members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro (VCG) can count on my personal support and help, and everyone will have their chance,” he said.

He points out that his new position is an honour, a pleasure, but also an obligation.

“Montenegro has always had an army based on great tradition, honourable ancestors and proud descendants. We had great things to inherit from great people, to be proud of them and preserve them from oblivion. But we also have a lot of work to do and improve in order to meet the demands we face.

He emphasised that he would do everything to make VCG an institution of reputation and trust as it deserves.
