The Energy and Mining Minister, Sasa Mujovic, has been trying to find the best solution for Zeljezara (eng. Steelworks), its future and employees. In a statement for CdM, the Minister said that 8B Capital, owned by Igor Samiz, had requested a 50-year lease for Celicana and Kovacnica in the Niksic Zeljezara.

“I told them that we would not do anything until relevant authorities see the contract and all the details. I forwarded the contract to the Defender of Property and Legal Interests of Montenegro, Bojana Cirovic, and I’m waiting for her answer,” Mr Mujovic told CdM.

According to a new proposal, that company for now doesn’t require the return of investment, as it seeks to start production.

The Minister added that the offer was favorable and with no risk, underlining that they must see whether the lease can be given for 50 years, what the procedure was, and the defender should have the final word, that is, say if it’s feasible and in line with the Law.
